A: Yes. If you have insurance that provides coverage for a licensed Physiotherapist, then you will be reimbursed accordingly.
Q: What kind of payment do you accept?
A: Cash, cheque, Mastercard or Visa, thank you.
Q: What should I wear?
A: You should dress comfortably. If you have an issue with your knees then be sure to bring shorts so that I may examine your knees. If you have a spinal issue then be prepared to expose your spine.
Q: What's the difference between your studio and traditional physical therapy clinics?
A: There are several significant differences between the service you receive at Function to Fitness and those received at a traditional physical therapy clinic.
- Firstly, at Function to Fitness you receive the dedicated attention of the studio owner. No one else is booked during the hour and you get my full attention for the entire time of your stay. The quality of your therapist/trainer is key to developing the right program for you. Margaret has over twenty years of hands-on experience dealing with a range of sports and rehabilitation issues.
- Secondly, there are no electrical machines. All therapy is done through use of my hands and your body. Exercise is the hallmark of the program.
- Thirdly, at Function to Fitness you have full access to the latest in balance training and strength training equipment.
- Finally, the entire process takes place in a quiet private setting so that your privacy is maintained.
A: How well you progress depends on your starting point as well as your goal(s). I can typically let you know how many sessions you will need after the first assessment.
Q: Do I need a physician's referral? Should I advise my physician?
A: It is not necessary for you to get a physician referral to see me. However you may require a referral for reimbursement from your insurance. Many physicians refer clients to me and I am always open to discussing my approach with them. Also, if I feel that an issue requires medical attention, I will not hesitate to inform you and will gladly contact your doctor.
Q: How is this different from a chiropractor?
A: I also get referrals from chiropractors when they do not have the time to teach their clients the exercises required to insure correct form. Although I do occasionally do spinal mobilization (with your consent) I do not do any spinal manipulation.
Q: Are you licensed? How is your profession regulated?
A: Yes. I am licensed through the College of Physiotherapists of Ontario - the regulatory body for practicing Physiotherapists in Ontario. I am also a member of the Ontario Physiotherapy Association, The Canadian Physiotherapy Association, the American Physical Therapy Association, and the National Strength and Conditioning Association.
